Description
A stunning vegetable garden!
This was Anne Hathaway's childhood home in the village of Shottery, Warwickshire, England. It’s here where she was born and raised, and where her husband-to-be, William Shakespeare, would have visited her and courted her during the early days of their relationship. The home is only about one mile (1.6km) west of Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The earliest part of the home was built before the 15th century. Much of the original part of the home has survived, and has been extended over the years to a 12-room farmhouse. The house was known as Hewland Farm in Shakespeare’s day, and had more than 90 acres (36 hectares) of land attached to it.
I was fortunate to visit here in 2011.
