Description
Brick wall ruins of a greenhouse at Kylemore Abbey Gardens in Ireland.
A mile west of Kylemore Abbey castle, lies a beautiful 8-acre walled garden, where it’s believed that the original owner, Henry Mitchell, planted up to 300,000 trees a year over several years. In true Victorian fashion, flowerbeds here are cut into the shapes of circles, rows, and ribbons. Only plants that were introduced to Ireland before 1901 are used in the gardens today. A mountain stream divides the site into two distinct areas: the pleasure garden and the vegetable garden.
